DID YOU KNOW... ?

Our students from the Department of Machine Design have won top awards in the Emil Škoda Award competition, which is organized annually by Škoda Transportation. They received scholarships from the Mayor of the City of Pilsen and the Governor of the Pilsen region. In cooperation with the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Medical Studies, they created new designs, many of which have already been actually produced and used in industry thanks to the interdisciplinary Design+ project.

The Department provides support for the  Formula Student  [cs] project.

Our many contacts and projects enable our students and lecturers to study or work at foreign universities and thus bring new knowledge and experience back with them to our academic environment.

The department, in cooperation with industry, offers its students a wide range of topics for theses, internships and training programmes.

DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT

Industrial engineering is a relatively young multidisciplinary field that combines technical knowledge with knowledge of business management. Graduates from the field of industrial engineering will have competencies for effective management and coordination of production systems, management of production departments, team management, design of modern production systems in the spirit of Industry 4.0 or solving projects aimed at increasing process efficiency in a company. It can simply be said that the main tasks of every industrial engineer are the optimization, rationalization and improvement of production or non-production processes.

Therefore, during your studies you will gain key knowledge not only in the field of modern production management concepts, but you will also learn about the interconnectedness and essence of processes implemented in industrial companies throughout the product life cycle. We use the latest technical equipment in our teaching. Our students have at their disposal a Fischertechnik kit, on which they learn to build and program models such as an automated warehouse, a product sorter or a robotic arm. The Department also has two unusual laboratories - a virtual reality laboratory and a laboratory focused on Industry 4.0, where you will learn, for example, how a collaborative robot or an automatically controlled truck (so-called AGV) works.

During your studies you can look forward to subjects that are focused not only on industrial engineering such as logistics, ergonomics, simulation of production systems, production management or work rationalization, but our graduates must also have an active knowledge of IT support for business processes and economics and business management. Projects from industry are also an integral part of our teaching.

STUDY SPECIALIZATION

Industrial engineering and management

More information about study programmes and fields can be found in the Study section.

BENEFITS FOR YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER

Successful implementation of complex and interconnected activities in the areas of economics, planning, management, information and personnel management in small and medium-sized companies.

DID YOU KNOW... ?

Graduates from our master's degree programme have found employment in many lucrative positions, for example: process/industrial engineer, lean manager, lean specialist, logistics manager, designer, technology manager, collaborative robotics specialist, virtual and augmented reality systems specialist, production director, etc. Our graduates are also helped by a sophisticated trainee programme and very close cooperation with industry.
